The State of Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles and Go Motors LLC:

We are happy to announce effective this week at the request of the State of Connecticut Department of Motor vehicles Go Motors, LLC Niantic CT will now provide essential DMV services in-house to the pubic at Go Motors LLC located at 184 Flanders Road, Niantic, CT. This service is available for Niantic and surrounding area residents (also please feel free to give us a call if you live in another area and you are having a difficult time essential DMV services in your own area) by appointment. We hope our DMV customers find the following is helpful. It is intended to streamline the registration process for our customers. However, it requires a good deal of checking and planning on behalf of our customers prior to our issuance of a registration appointment. Recently, we have received an overwhelming volume of calls and we ask all registrants to please and thoroughly read, check, and ensure the following prior to giving us a call (thank you!):

If you have DMV Services you would like to make an appointment for please give us a call to schedule an appointment at (860) 839-2518 after reading and going through the following checklist and submitting the following documents.

Pre-Registration Checklist:

1. Did you buy your vehicle from another dealer in Connecticut?

2. Did you buy your vehicle from another dealer out of state and pay taxes with the out of state dealer (if you did buy from an out of state dealer and did not pay taxes to that dealer please disregard this question). If you did pay taxes with the out of state dealer your request for registration should go directly to DMV.

3. Did you purchase your vehicle from a family member and at the time of registration will subsequently be applying for a tax exemption?

4. Do you need commercial plates (not to be confused with Combination plates)?

5. Is the GVWR (gross weight) of your vehicle over 8500 lbs.?

6. Are you registering a motorcycle? (currently, we do not have motorcycle plates. . . please check back soon...we will get them soon!)

7. Do you have a vehicle to register that is in probate or has a power of attorney attached to it?

8. Do you have any unpaid property taxes you owe (Check by clicking link below)?

PLEASE NOTE: Because this program is so new this list may change from day to day as per DMV's instructions to registering dealers. We recommend to please bookmark this page and check back just prior to your appointment to check the criteria DMV is providing us with for alternative registration appointments. It does seem to change daily and we highly recommend checking back.

Presently, we do not have motorcycle plates but we expect to have them soon. Please check back soon for updates on motorcycle plates. Thank you.

If you answered yes to any of these questions above we unfortunately can not register your vehicle for you at this time (we will be getting commercial plates soon. . . so please check back) and we recommend you contact the DMV directly. Otherwise please proceed with the pre-reg checklist below. . . . as we hope to make the process of registering as easy and streamlined as possible for you:

As you get ready for registration please bear in mind all of your registration documents below should be in the name of the person applying for registration and all registrants will be required to provide a current State of Connecticut driver's license at the time of registration and all forms of payment should also match the registrant's name etc.

What you will need:

Property Taxes Paid?

The State of Connecticut DMV reserves the right to place a hold on registration services on taxpayers who have outstanding motor vehicle property taxes unpaid to their local tax collector. As a result the DMV will not allow us process registrations for taxpayers who owe unpaid outstanding motor vehicle taxes.

Not sure if you owe? Let's take the guesswork out of it for you:

Before getting started we ask you to please check if you owe any motor vehicle property taxes by Clicking Here or by copying and pasting the following to your browser:

https://dmvcivls-wselfservice.ct.gov/Compliance/Individual

Unfortunately if you do owe property taxes to your local tax collector it must be paid and your tax collector must release the hold on your DMV registration hold prior to registration and prior to an appointment with us. Fortunately, this is easily resolved by visiting your property tax collector and paying in person (we recommend you ask tax collector at the time you pay your taxes to please release your hold on DMV registration right away / asap, if possible. We also recommend while in the property tax collector's office or at the time of payment you check the link above that we have provided you to be sure before you leave their office that they have, in fact, released your hold on registration services. We find this method works best and eliminates you leaving their office and having to come back :). Please also feel free to give us a call after you do.

Once and if there are no property tax issues you can then move on . . .

Next, you will need the following to request a registration appointment and to prepare for registration once we issue an appointment:

1. A Completed Registration Form. A completed State of Connecticut H-13B Form rev 6-2018. Click Here to download a PDF of this form. Please fill in Sections 1, 2., 3., 4., and 6. it is very important this form is filled out and signed completely before your appointment. The odometer reading on this form should match the odometer reading on the title or Q1 at the time of sale.

2. GVWR. Gross weight. We ask that you please take a picture of your vehicle's vin tag located on the driver side door as well as your public vin (this is the vin located on your windshield left side) to answer any GVWR questions and verify the vin # on your H-13B form and as we complete your registration with DMV.

3. Proof of Ownership. A Title where the vin # matches the vin # in item 11 below / the vin # on the vehicle. Once you have verified that your vin # on your title, Bill of Sale, and the vin #s on the vehicle physically match and there are no errors you can then check to be sure that the vehicle has properly been reassigned to you as the buyer and signed by the seller. This title reassignment to the buyer signed by the seller should be located on the back of the title, if space allows. If space does not allow for this, for in-state purchases a Q1 Supplemental Reassignment of ownership form should be used (click here to see an example of a Q1 -- but this form is just an example --- these forms may be acquired only through the DMV or from dealers such as Go Motors LLC - this is just an example of a Q1 form). If you need a Q1 please give us a call to come and get one - we are happy to help. If there are any cross outs / strikes or mistakes on the back of your title you will need an additional Q1 form (we have these at our office for pickup) and the new Q1 will require both the seller and buyer's signatures as well. Please be sure your title has been properly signed over in the name of the person / buyer registering the vehicle and signed by the seller you purchased it from. Please do not bring in any open titles (these are titles where the seller has signed the title only). To check for proper reassignment on your title this areas is usually on the back of the certificate of title. Your title and/or Q1 form also should have no errors, cross outs. Cross outs, erasures, or mistakes void the title so we strongly urge customers to be careful. The title should be signed by both seller and buyer and filled in properly with the correct mileage reported at the time of sale. If you or the seller accidentally make a mistake - do not cross out any information or try to correct it by writing over the mistakes. We recommend and DMV recommends to correct the mistake by properly executing a new Q1 form signed by both seller and buyer and attach it to your title.

4. Proof of Ownership. An original Bill of Sale signed by the buyer and seller with the amount paid. PLEASE NOTE: DMV will be auditing various sales transactions to ensure tax compliance. However, we will assess taxes based on the amount paid for the vehicle listing on the bill of sale. If, after receiving the file DMV feels the amount of taxes justify an audit -- the taxes paid may be audited.

5. Transferring Registration. If you are transferring plates please bring your plates as well as a copy of your original old registrataion with the plates that will be transferred with you at the time of your appointment. We will be required to send your old registration to DMV. This is required to transfer plates.

6. Insurance. A Connecticut valid insurance card with correct effective dates, year, make, and vin # of the vehicle you are registering.

7. Driver's License. A legible copy of the front and back of your valid Connecticut driver's license - preferrably enlarged. If you only have an out of state driver's license we may not be able to register your car for you at this time and we may require additional steps. If there are two owners we will need all owners' copies front and back of their drivers' licenses. All should be Connecticut residents. (Do not send to email. Please bring this with you as well as your actual CT Driver's license at the time of your appointment).

8. Emissions Paperwork - in-state private party (not dealer) purchases: Click here to check if your vehicle is emissions compliant or alternatively copy and paste the following to your browser:

http://ctemissions.com/test-procedures/test-due-date-search

If your vehicle is not emissions compliant please bring it through emissions prior to registration.

Need emissions?

Click Here for a list or alternatively copy and paste the following to your browser's URL:

http://ctemissions.com/test-centers/find-a-test-center

of Emissions Test Centers.

Please bring the original document / proof of emissions compliance with you that you received at the time you brought it through emissions.

9. Emissions Compliance for Vehicles Purchased Out of State through a dealer (where taxes were not paid) or through a private party:

All vehicles purchased out of state must pass emissions in Connecticut prior to registration. Please follow the procedures above in item 8 and bring your proof of passing emissions given to you (we need original emissions certificate signed by the emissions test station) at the time of passing emissions. We can not register vehicles that have not passed emissions that were purchased out of state / not previously registered in Connectiut / with an out of state title.

10. Required Form of Payment for your DMV registration fee as well as the $25 registration service fee: Cash only please at the time of your registration. Please come to your appointment with enough cash to pay for both of these charges. If you can not pay cash for both of these charges we can not issue you a registration fee.

Unfortunately, we do not know how much your 3 year registration will be in advance. We also recommend bringing different denominations of bills and cash as we can not make exact change most likely.

11. Please take a picture of your vehicle's public vin # (this is located in the window), the vin # on your vehicle's door as well as the tag with the "GVWR" weight. This will allow us to assess the weight and verify the vin #.

12. Calculate your sales tax in advance and write it down on a piece of paper "sales tax is $____)"

How to calculate sales tax:

CT Sales Tax 6.35% collected at the time of registration is calculated at a rate of 6.35% based off the total amount on the bill of sale for your vehicle.

In example, if your Bill of Sale reflects that at the time of sale you paid $500:

$500 x 6.35% = $31.75. $31.75 is therefore the total sales tax to be paid by certified check or money order at time of registration.

It is our hope that this will help you to calculate sales tax amount(s) prior to your registration. For sales tax payments we accept a Personal Check / Money Order / Certified Check to be submitted at the time of registration. Sorry, no cash payments for sales tax. Please make check(s) payable to: CT DMV -- we request all customers put the vin # as well the words "for sales tax for vin # _____" in the memo fields. You should have your sales tax payment in the form of a check or money order or certified check ready before you come to our office for registration.

Please bear in mind the DMV will be auditing sales tax paid for registrations for compliance if they deem appropriate --- E.g., if a value of a vehicle is much greater than the amount on the sales tax. . . they have cautioned there may be cause for an audit.

13. Once you have all of the above in order, you have checked all of our notes to be sure you are eligible to register your vehicle through us at this time and if you are sure you would like an appointment please asap / immediately forward a full legible (pdf is preferred - 1 document only) copy / verification of all of the above items except item 7-- PDF format in one single document to:

DMVServices@GoMotorsUSA.com asap.

If we do not recieive these documents we can not issue you a registration appointment. A suggestion which might make it easier if you have no access to scan a pdf document is to take a picture of all of these documents and attach the picture of each item to the email. We ask that you attach all of the items as much as possible in an orderly fashion, with titles (e.g., Bill of Sale), and in one single email, if possible.

If it is easier and you are comfortable you may also text to us these items to (860) 839-2518 but we do not recommend this and we prefer emai an email with one PDF document of all of the above attached -- please be sure your documents are legible. Once we receive these items we can then look them over to be sure you are all set for your appointment and we will give you a call to schedule an appointment or for feedback. Due the high volume of people requesting registrations we may not be able to call you back if all is not in order. We ask you to please wait to hear from us either by email or telephone.

After you receive your appointment from us we ask the following:

Once you receive an appointment please confirm your appointment by texting us at (860) 839-2518 and email to DMVServices@GoMotorsUSA.com to confirm at least 3 hours prior to your appointment. Text / email the words "confirmed, your name, and time of your appointment".

If we do not receive a confirmation text and email we may take your name off our list so we strongly urge you to 'confirm' the morning of the day of your appointment or at least 3 hours prior to your appointment.

If you do not confirm your appointment it may be automatically cancelled and therefore we ask all customers to be vigilant in making sure they confirm on time.

A confirmed appointment indicates to us that you are coming for your registration.

We hope this helps streamline the process so that if any items are needed or if there are issues we can help assist you in correcting them in advance and to keep you on the road!

Go Motors LLC reserves the right to reschedule or cancel any appointments at the time of this confirmation or anytime subject to our dealership's schedule or other circumstances beyond our control or for other reasons.
